What is CARB?

The California air resources administration (CARB) launched the lower composite wood products formaldehyde to release toxic air control measure (ATCM) April 18, 2008 formally approved as California laws and regulations, with immediate effect and from enforced on January 1, 2009, starting from April 1, 2009 strict control and supervision. The ATCM applies to manufacturers, processors, wholesalers, importers and retailers who sell, pre-sell and supply composite wood products in the California market.

Is NAF aldehyde-free sheet metal?

In the traditional plate industry, the adhesive used for the trialdehyde glue, namely formaldehyde + urea (or phenol, melamine or its combination), it is obvious that formaldehyde is one of the essential raw materials, and its reaction is reversible, in the long-term use of the plate process, will continue to release formaldehyde.

In 2008, the California Air Resources Board issued the Airborne Control Measures for Toxic Substances to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products, which has been incorporated into the California Act. This Act is one of the most stringent standards in the world regarding the amount of formaldehyde released from composite wood products.

The Act defines aldehyde-free wood products as those that do not use any formaldehyde-containing adhesives in their production. NAF is the most stringent aldehyde-free exemption under the Act. Panels or furniture products that obtain this certification do not need to be tested for formaldehyde when exported to the U.S. market.

What are the testing standards for NAF grade?

The NAF test standard and requirements stipulate that the test value of all products in the same batch should be less than or equal to 0.2mg/L. This is different from E0 (same batch, less than or equal to 0.5mg/L).

Therefore, the certification of environmental protection level, choose the most suitable for their own furniture board.https://www.nicetimber.com/
